This can be caused by washing a ferrous item with the stainless cutlery, causing a rusty look. Ferrous items such as tin openers, cast iron pans, saucepan lids with ferrous screws holding the lid handle, are amongst some of the items that can cause this problem.

18/10 is the highest grade stainless steel used in cutlery. Anything below this can be susceptible to showing the signs of rusting. To overcome this problem remove the items from the dishwasher before the drying cycle commences
